James Brian Berry, farmer at heart, passed away May 6, 2025, at the age of 80. He is survived by his city wife, Joanne Berry, and three daughters, Brenda, Michelle, and Deanna, who took on their father’s strength and their mother’s style. James, called Jim by his friends and family, loved the Lord, loved his family, and worked hard all his life to bring his girls the finer things. Stalwart and honorable, gentle but firm, his girls would say he could make friends in a grocery line or at the gas station. Anyone who knew him loved him. He had an easy way about him that was instantly likeable and forever lovable.

He was a faithful follower of Jesus whose fatherly example to his girls made believing in a loving heavenly father easy. Even when hard times hit, his faith never wavered, and he instilled that in his family and shared it with others around him. He is enjoying Jesus’ presence now, and we don’t say goodbye, we say see you later.

Memorial services will be held at Valley Baptist Church, Fruitvale campus, 4800 Fruitvale Ave., at noon, Friday, May 16, 2025. Reception to follow.
